Should I Refinance my Home?

Mortgage refinancing refers to the process of taking out a new home mortgage and using some or all of the proceeds to pay off an existing mortgage on your home. Many people refinance to obtain a lower interest rate or to lower their monthly payments by extending the term of your loan. Remember that if you extend the term of the loan, you will reduce your monthly mortgage, but you will end up paying more interest over the term of the loan.

Free Credit Report

Your credit score is very important when you are buying or renting a home.  The higher your credit score, the more buying power you have when shopping for a low interest rate on your mortgage.  A way to determine what your credit score is can be found in obtaining a credit report.

You are eligible to receive a free copy of your credit report from each of the 3 credit repositories once a year. There will be a small charge if you choose to also purchase your credit score. However, the scores provided to a consumer may differ from those provided to a lender when accessing your credit.

You can obtain your free credit report by calling 1-877-322-8228.

To Request your Credit Report by Mail:

  1. Download the request form (You need an Adobe viewer to view the requested form. Download the free Adobe viewer)
  2. Print and complete the form
  3. Mail the completed form to:

    Atlanta, GA 30348-5281

Your reports will be mailed to you within 15 days. Please, allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.

Uniform Construction Code

Pennsylvania's statewide building code called the Uniform Construction Code (UCC) and the State's pre-UCC requirements for commercial buildings.  The UCC Administration and Enforcement regulation has adopted the codes for use throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania which went into effective 12/31/2006.  There are 2,563 municipalities located in Pennsylvania that have elected to administer the code and have hired private code enforcement agencies to enforce the UCC.
